Centered along Sri Lanka’s central montane spine, this 5-day nature and hiking route links misty colonial hill stations, high-altitude tea plantations, the iconic blue mountain railway, and scenic trekking trails across Ella Gap.
Itinerary
Operational Schedule: Morning reception and highway transit to Kandy, stopping at Pinnawala Elephant Sanctuary. Afternoon orientation tour of Kandy Lake, the city market, and an evening visit to the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic.
Operational Schedule: Mountain drive past Ramboda Falls. Guided factory and field tour at an operational Ceylon tea estate to study harvesting, withering, rolling, and grading. Afternoon walk through colonial Nuwara Eliya and Lake Gregory.
Operational Schedule: Morning tour of Hakgala Botanical Gardens situated beneath the Hakgala cliff face. Drive across the Ambewela high-altitude dairy plateau before descending into the mountain village of Ella.
Operational Schedule: Early morning hike up Little Adam’s Peak for panoramic views across Ella Gap. Midday walk through forest trails to photograph trains crossing the Nine Arch Bridge. Afternoon visit to the base of Rawana Falls.
- Route: Ella to Nanu Oya by train; road transfer to Colombo / CMB Airport.
- Operational Schedule: Morning departure aboard the scenic mountain train from Ella to Nanu Oya. Chauffeur connection at Nanu Oya station for the road transfer back to Colombo or CMB Airport.
